OUR VISION

The 'Round the Mountain organization was born out of a big vision for Southwest Virginia. Its mission is broad both in scope and as well as in geographical area, and in the time and effort it will take to bring it fully into being. There are many components to RTM, each important to the whole, and each is a project unto itself. Much of our visioning has been to see and understand how to weave the various components together into an effective functioning organization. In thinking about RTM's future as a craft advocacy organization, the economic and community development aspects for our region have never been far from our minds, nor has the development of a trail system or the education component or tourism for example. As the pieces began to fit together we have empowered committees to tackle each task and we are fortunate to have an energetic group of volunteers working along side our staff to tackle this work. This effort is part of a greater vision to help Southwest Virginia fulfill its potential as an important region for hand made objects, one that will be known and respected far and wide, a place recognized for its natural beauty, its quality of life and its arts and crafts.
