I have been turning wood for more than 25 years and enjoy turning small projects such as wooden jewelry.

All my wooden jewelry is made from salvaged wood found in SWVA. The wood comes from power line clearing, my fire woodpile and from friends and neighbors. My system of segmenting allows me to use small pieces of wood. Some of my wood comes from knotty board, thus the name “Knot Art”.

My jewelry won first place in category at the Woodcarvers & Woodturning Symposium in Gray, TN in March 2007.

Virginia Creeper Trail and Appalachian Trail Scenes are 12 scenes depicted on special dates calendar. Most scenes are available in cards and prints. Featured are scenes from Abingdon to Todd, NC where the locomotive ran across Appalachian Trail.

I am a native Virginian who, until 2007, lived and worked in the Washington DC area for the US Justice Department.  After thirty years of civil service with DOJ, I retired to pursue my passion in lutherie.  I now reside with my wife, Sarah, and our four wonderful children, Elena, Diana, Asher and Amelie in the culture-rich mountains of Southwest Va. I've played guitar most of my life and have always loved fine woodwork. In early 2000 I became interested in lutherie and found a guitar builder associated with a local music store in Old Town Alexandria, Va, who took me under his wing. The luthier's name was Roberto and he spoke little to no English.  Over the next few years I spent afternoons and weekends with Roberto learning his craft. Language was no barrier. I was later inspired by Wayne Henderson who lived just a few miles from my parents in SW Va. As noted, I retired from Civil Service in 2007 and moved to Marion where I have established a lutherie shop on Main Street. My parents are native to the Greencove / Whitetop area, and I spend much of my childhood here.

It was the smell of the wood that drew me to my neighbor's workshop when I was young. I began making wooden toys for my daughters then I started to make old fashioned toys. My wife and I founded Mountain Kids Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children. All sales are donated to Mountain Kids, which has grown along with my toy making. I am currently designing a catalog and a web site. My time is filled with good work and great excitement about the years ahead.

We have been “designing with light” since 1983. Our business plan is simple: we create beautiful glass art using quality materials, innovative designs and meticulous craftsmanship. 100% customer satisfaction is our goal. I am a photographer and musician in addition to my day job. I like to photograph wildlife, landscapes and odd scenes and items. I live in Smyth County in Chilhowie, Va.

I do wood turning and hand crafted wooden items - some custom made to order. Most items are designed to fulfill a need in your home.

Inspired by the Arts and Crafts Movement (Mission or Craftsman styles), Carter blends original hand crafted ceramic art tiles, mosaics and American hardwoods together to make decorative furnishings and accessories for the home and office.

I have a passion for photography, I love it! For me capturing that perfect shot is like a fisherman catching that big fish that he just has to hang on the wall or a hunter getting that 18 pointer. I don't get it...instead of killing the critters, I'd much rather take their picture.

We make an extensive selection of functional stoneware for the table and the kitchen, decorative vases, and one of a kind pieces. We use layered glazes to achieve depth and variety of appearance. We work with a commitment to quality that we hope will be sensed by those who use and enjoy our pottery for many years to come.

Since the days of high school home economics class, I have loved to sew. As a young married girl, I made a few quilts before getting busy raising my children and working. After joining the local quilt guild, I not only experienced a renewed interest, but found what I will believe be a life long passion for using beautiful fabric to craft quilts, wall hangings and runners. I use techniques of traditional piecing as well as paper piecing and machine applique. I love most of all to "free motion" quilt. My sister and I own and operate All To Pieces Fabric store on Main Street in Haysi. I find constant inspiration from my quilting friends and all the wonderful fabric that is available to today's quilters!

I am an Interior Designer that loves to show my creative style. I hand sew and create my embellishments on lampshades. My philosophy is simple and straightforward.
