The artistic community of the Harmony Trail has a strong commitment to preserving the functional crafts of mountain living and introducing more contemporary design in the galleries and schools along the Harmony Trail. A newly created school for the arts in Downtown Galax provides week-end and week-long classes in visual and performing arts, heritage and contemporary craft, and traditional music. The Harmony Trail offers many galleries and gift shops that display local crafts from this talented community All year, the sounds of old time and bluegrass music rises into the hills and valleys from the many jam sessions, pickin’ porches and festivals including the Old Fiddler’s Convention. From the songs of birds, to the rumble of river rapids, the soft hum of a potter’s wheel and the lilting tunes of old time music, the Harmony Trails offers you a Blue Ridge Mountain retreat.
