Not a crafts person but a fine artist creating high-end and original paintings, drawings, and sculpture. Writer of related books etc. and a cartoonist.

My watercolors are landscapes, still life, and portraits. Beach scenes and mountainscapes are my focus right now.

I mostly paint realistic landscapes (and other subjects), 90% in watercolors and 10% in oils. I usually work “plein air”, and try to be true to both the scene presented and my personal reactions to said scene. I've been doing this since 1980, and thus have hundreds of paintings available. I paint because it's an amazing world out there, full of wondrous things, if we'd only stop and notice.

I am involved in two different crafts. I do charcoal and pencil drawings as well as Intarsia. I became interested in drawing at a very young age. My natural ability was discovered while in elementary school, however, my artistic talent was not fully developed until later in life. My interest in the ancient art of Intarsia led me back into drawing because of the desire to create my own Intarsia patterns. In my Intarsia pieces I use all natural wood indigenous to Southwest Virginia.

I consider drawing the root of all of my endeavors as an artist. If I am not drawing with an implement, then I am drawing with my eyes. And as subject matter goes, there is nothing more lovely or challenging to interpret than the human form, to capture the beauty of everyday body language that says “I am human.” Body language that says “I am resting”...”I am tired”...”I am proud”...”I am a powerhouse”...”I am maybe a little sexy.” I do not have a studio so contact me and we'll set a time when we can meet.

I photograph the places and objects people have built, repaired, neglected and refurbished, destroyed or re-purposed.

My photos imply and portray people through their possessions, their signs, their spaces and the stories told by the objects and marks they leave behind.

The actions recorded in the things and places we make tell more about us than a smile or a pose, and hide less.

My photography is for people who love the outdoors, wildlife and the beauty of nature. It is for everyone who wants to listen to water running over the rocks of a small stream or feel the warm sun after a long winter, or smell the clean smell after a rain. It's for those who enjoy watching a fawn with a doe, or a black bear cub with its mother.

I love the outdoors, I thank God for it, and I want to share it with others through my prints and greeting cards.

Dan is a talented artist who is not limited to one style or media. He can capture a variety of subjects well and has an appeal to people with various backgrounds and tastes.

Robert Wrenn Jones' passion is for photography of landscapes and nature, on both the macro and micro scale. He is inspired by the scenes that are all too often passed without being seen, the details of which are lost in life's haste or hidden by our increasingly complicated world. Using the tools of digital photography, Jones captures moments and scenes, presenting them with honesty and emotional accuracy.

I maintain a home studio outside of Nickelsville, Va. I paint primarily in oil and do many portraits of people and animals in pastel. Work in many private collections in US & England. Recipient of several awards.

My inspiration and vision comes from the inner and outer beauty of the simple view of life. My work goes beyond physical likeness to paint personality, spirit and faith. Painting and photography are my first loves; however, I have begun to work with a multimedia process, incorporating technology and digital art.

My talent is fine art - acrylic, watercolor paintings (size 12 X 17). I use bright colors, paint furniture such as tables, chairs and small cabinets.

Detailed pencil drawings, mainly Appalachian life style, including music, work and other aspects of the culture. Theme - “Nostalgic Glimpses of the Appalachian.”

Smiling Cat Studio is named for the happiness and contentment I feel when creating something new, like a happy cat in a sunbeam! Hand-pulled linoleum block prints (linocuts) featuring baskets, cats, architectural details, and flowers are my current fixation, though I sometimes wander into basket weaving, colored pencil, water color, origami, bead weaving, needle arts, and other media.

As a child, I was interested in art and that interest never faded. Although photography remains only a hobby, I have been recognized in regional exhibitions for my photography and I received Best in Show at the 2010 Rhythm and Roots Reunion. I am honored to have such great family and friends, to have an amazing God by my side, and to live in such a beautiful region with a community that is so talented and passionate for the arts.

A local artist who showcases flowers and landscapes from the region and through travel. Patrons have said it is a way to keep nature alive on paper with paints.
